The Doctors:

Dr. Burry graduated in 1993 from Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry with the distinction of being his class Valedictorian. He had received a number of awards during his formal dental education for Highest Proficiency and Skill in the areas of oral surgery and fixed prosthodontics.

He has practiced dentistry in the Comox Valley exclusively since 1993, having completed further dental education in areas such as Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures, Prosthodontics (Crown, Bridge and Dentures), Periodontics (Gum surgery), Oral and Inhalation Sedation and Dental Implantology with some of North Americas finest dental educators and scholars.

Dr. Burry currently runs his general dental practice with an emphasis on Cosmetic Dentistry, Implant Placement and Complex Restorative Dental Procedures.

He is currently a member of the Canadian Dental Association, British Columbia Dental Association and the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.

 

Dr. Karamanis grew up in Montreal where he received his D.D.S. from McGill University Faculty of Dentistry in 1992.  He received a number of awards including the Canadian Dental Association Student Award.  After graduation, he spent 4 years as a dentist for the Canadian Military. 

In 1994, Dr. Karamanis was certified to restore dental implants by Branemark and in 2006 to place implants.  He is constantly upgrading his skills with hundreds of hours of continuing education. He has studied under many famous mentors including Dr. Gord Christensen, Dr. John C. Kois, and is a graduate of the Kois Center: Advancing Dentistry Through Science.

Dr. Karamanis has been in the Comox Valley since 1992 and has completed advanced studies in full mouth and rehabilitative dentistry, including Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry, Porcelain Veneers, Dental Implants, Crowns and Bridges, Oral and Inhalation Sedation, as well as Dentures and Implant Supported Dentures.

He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the British Columbia Dental Associations, as well as the College of Dental Surgeons of BC.  Dr. Karamanis is currently pursuing his desire to teach other dentists by working towards his mentorship with The Kois Centre: Advancing Dentistry Through Science.

Dr. Karamanis and his wife Michelina have two boys, Nikolas and Alexandros.  Outside of the office, he likes to volunteer with local sporting clubs.  He is a hockey coach to his boys, both at the house level and at the rep level.  When not at the arena, he enjoys golfing and fishing with his boys.

They attend advanced courses on the newest dental technologies and techniques, and their Courtenay office is equipped with the latest tools and materials to help create just about any smile you would like.

Dental Team

The members of Dr. Burry and Dr. Karamanis’ dental team play important roles in your dental care. Your dental hygienist, a licensed professional, cleans and polishes teeth, applies fluoride, treats gum problems, and inspects your mouth for signs of oral disease. The certified dental assistants sterilize instruments, prepare treatment materials, take x-rays and assist the Dr.’s in your treatment.



Continuing Education

Dr.’s Burry and Karamanis and their dental team consider continuing education to be an ongoing part of their commitment to excellence in their profession and obligation to their patients. The entire staff attends a number of courses throughout the year. These include both dental clinical courses and courses for the front office staff, including computer training and front desk receptionist training.
